See and be seen
The site is located south of the 16th arrondissement, on the banks of the Seine in a line of blocks assigned to sports facilities. While the site has a "view", it also suffers from the noise pollution produced by the road traffic of the quai Saint-Exupéry and the nearby presence of the ring road.
We sought to implement a rational function where each facade makes the most of the features of the site.
This architectural choice allows for mitigation of the constraints (very noisy environment, heavy traffic) and highlights the splendid views offered by the geographical location on the banks of the Seine, where to see and to be seen are two sides of the same coin.
Each space is oriented so that the city can be seen and not heard and it works the transparencies and reflections that transform the urban environment into an architectural substance, like concrete, metal or glass. Suspended a few feet from the ground and wrapped in a stainless steel skin, the changing rooms become a reflective surface. The reflections that they cast over the city change throughout the day and depending on the light. This "mirror effect" dematerializes the built structure and infuses the building with a dynamism that contributes to its near and distant identification.
