Métaphore sylvestre
To convey a positive image of the toll station, we propose a design that optimizes both shape and function through a woodland metaphor. Using the plant design of the structure, the material is minimized and the overall robustness is derived from geometry rather than mass.
The design evokes undergrowth - light and transparency filtering through the canopy. The adornments appear as wooded edgings silhouetted against a flat horizon. The posts are trunks with metal branches supporting photovoltaic foliage. The staging of the photovoltaic activity makes an essential contribution to the overall atmosphere of the project. This "technological foliage", visible through the transparent awning, reveals its electrical activity but also contributes to the protection from the rain and sun provided by the awnings.
