It is proposed to relocate the care home for disabled adults from Ermenonville to the commune of Creil.
Naturally, our focus is on the residents living with very difficult conditions, but equally on the equipment needed by the nursing staff in order to make the tasks they must perform as easy as possible. Care assistants, visitors and families are also taken into account. Human relationships, space, and respect for the person must complement the technical qualities of the spaces in order to provide a dignified living framework that is easy to appropriate.
The programme presents all the characteristics required to provide a dignified home for these incapacitated individual. The well-being activities are multiple and varied and the medical hub ensures provision of essential care.
Six human-scale units with 11 beds each are proposed, including one specially reserved for patients in a persistent vegetative state.
The demand, clearly expressed in the programme, for a project on a single ground floor level, combined with the small size of the site, led us to group the units into twos. This symmetry offers a penetrability and a transparency which makes it possible to follow the daily course of the sun.
Light also reaches into the heart of the units thanks to the different skylights which punctuate each building block.
The units, constructed together in this way, constitute three volumes linked by long corridors with soft forms, bathed in natural light thanks to the skylights which offer a welcome spatial generosity.

This spatial principle encounters its conclusion to the right of the large multi-purpose room that opens generously onto the expanded existing park. It is therefore directly visible from the heart of the project and constitutes a permanent invitation to go there. A large patio area takes its place in this process and can be set up as an outdoor living area.
Closer to the entrance, another intimate patio forms a family room like an alcove that is conducive to the desired intimacy.
Form, compactness, implantation, distribution, organization, natural light, mode of construction, intelligent envelope are all evoked.

The architectural design is deliberately clear and simple, with particular attention paid to the treatment of the details and materials employed.

The construction systems are simple, with limited maintenance.
Space, time, comfort, affection, and medicine are closely intertwined and must operate harmoniously together.
The building alone is not sufficient to respond to the question. Our project develops its own identity with its ability to create new potential usages that fit with the project of the institution. A homely and serene setting is sought, and the large glazed bays confer a desire for opening which removes the limits between outside and inside.
Architecture is the art of accommodating human activities, of bringing life to the places that it designs, and it must respond not only to needs but also to desires. The desires to live.
